Andy takes 4th in return to Las Vegas stage
4/12 - It was a good weekend for the Simmons brothers. For the first time in a couple years Andy and Nick were competing side-by-side again and they both had their highest finishes ever at the US Nationals.
Nick won the 55kg championship with a 7-4, 7-1 finals win over Obe Blanc. Nick was dominant en route to his title, losing only one period on the day in his 4 matches of wrestling.
Andy, meanwhile, finished 4th at 60kg in only his 2nd tournament since returning from injuries that have kept him sidelined for two years. Andy won his first two matches, including a win over 2008 NCAA Champ Coleman Scott in the quarterfinals before falling 1-0, 1-0 to World Silver Medallist Mike Zadick in the semifinals. Andy lost his finals bout to Matt Valenti, dropping both periods via the leg clinch.
